The Riberas buy the Palacio del Retiro hotel in Madrid for almost 60 million euros

Jon Riberas, owner of Gestamp, together with his brother Francisco J. Riberas, has decided to invest sixty million euros in the fifty-room luxury hotel, Palacio del Retiro.

It is a wonderful historic palace built in the early twentieth century. The building was declared a national monument and is one of the historic buildings in the center of the city. It is located in front of the famous Retiro Park (hence its name) and near the Paseo de Recoletos.

There is an Art Triangle at this location, consisting of the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. In addition, it has a full-service business center and five meeting rooms of different sizes (all with Wi-Fi connection), making this historic monument an ideal place for meetings, conferences, weddings and celebrations.

It is a beautiful hotel that combines its classic and historic appearance with the great modern touch in each of its rooms. The Spa and Fitness Room are not to be missed.

The building was built in 1913 as the residence of the Oriol family, a dynasty of prodigies that continues to this day as part of the Spanish business world. Located at number 14, Alfonso XII Street, this work of architecture created by José Luis de Oriol Uringüen can be found. The family coat of arms can be seen on the chamfer. In 2002 it was restored by Miguel de Oriol e Ybarra. Two years later, in October 2004, it was inaugurated as the AC Palacio del Retiro hotel. The Palacio del Retiro is currently operated by the Autograph Collection brand of the U.S. Marriott group, and is managed by Belagua, a company owned by Antonio Catalán.

This is not the first time that the businessman has made an investment in Real Estate. Jon Riberas is one of the main shareholders of the company Ion Ion, the SOCIMI All Iron, with 6.74% of the capital. In addition, in 2017 the Riberas family acquired a building at number 4 Gran Vía in Madrid. This is an office space of the company Utopicus (Colonial).
